In much of the recent scholarship on economics and literature, depth insight is inversely proportional to status claimed for literature as such. For example, Gary Saul Morson Morton Schapiro’s Cents Sensibility argues that economists need read literary works their great moral wisdom, they fault scholars ignoring this appeal failing understand basic economics. But survey publications demonstrates, conjunction these critiques odd: critics have been skeptical claims about genuine value precisely because attended so closely markets structuring cultural production. What ultimately stands out in its turn away from complex accounts nature form toward considerations representation economic life.
